A deep or medium frame is placed in a carriage and is manually pushed through the heated knife by the user. Cappings are sliced off one side at a time and drop into your tank (at least 100 cm or 39 inches long). Perfectly fits atop our 1,000mm Uncapping Tank and also fits the 1,500mm Uncapping Tank, but leaves a 500mm opening to hang any uncapped frames.

The blade is steam-heated by a small 1500W, 120V wallpaper steamer. After filling the steamer with water, it takes about 20 minutes to boil. The steam passes through the knife and keeps the wax and honey from accumulating on the knife. Used steam and condensed water collects in a plastic bucket. The steamer will last about two hours between fillings.

The uncapper blade height can be adjusted to accommodate the thickness of the combs. The combs need to be drawn past the top bar so that the knife can clear the top bar and still remove the cappings. For this reason, we recommend using 9 frames in a 10 frame box to achieve thicker honey combs.

Warning: Uncapping blade is sharp and hot. Use caution uncapping and do not allow young children to use the uncapper.
