Are you still borrowing your buddy's extractor and just wish you had your own to extract a super or two? This is the kit for you. Cost effective and to the point, this gets you up and running without breaking the bank!

Kit includes:

  • 2-Frame Manual Extractor - spins two deep or two medium frames at a time. This extractor is a workhorse, and is many beekeepers' very first extractor. Do not be fooled by its small size or pricetag; this extractor spins honey out of your frames just like the rest with a little bit of elbow grease. Put uncapped frames in, spin for a few minutes, flip to the other side and spin again, and you're done!
  • Ultimate Uncapping Slicer for uncapping your frames. This tool cuts fine slices into capped honey frames to let the honey out without extensively damaging the comb.
  • Filter cone for filtering your honey as it leaves the extractor. Some people like bits of wax in their honey, but most prefer to filter wax (and bee legs) out of the honey. The filter cone sits over a pail (not included) and does a fine job of cleaning your honey.

Note:

  • Pail to collect honey and tank to collect cappings not included.
  • We recommend picking up a bee brush as an easy way to get bees off of a small number of frames. There are many way to harvest honey from a hive including a fume boardescape board, and a leaf blower, but a simple bee brush is perhaps the easiest for a hive or two.
  • This kit includes a tangential extractor. With this type of extractor, frames are parallel with the center of the basket and only the comb facing outward is extracted. Frames must be flipped multiple times to extract both sides and to prevent blowouts where the comb breaks due to the weight of the honey.
  • If you ever upgrade your plastic extractor to a larger (and sturdier) stainless steel model, this one won't become obsolete. It's a sturdy tank with a honey gate built into the bottom, and the extractor components can be removed to turn the unit into a honey settling tank or bottling tank instead (make sure to cover the bolt holes and handle holes near the top though, to keep curious bees or ants from finding their way inside).
