Betterbee Bucket Blanket

Evenly warm and de-crystallize full pails of honey with the well-insulated Betterbee Bucket Blanket!

Several years ago, we set out to find a better pail heater to solve the age-old problem of crystallized pails of honey without damaging the honey. We were pleased to find an American-made product used in other industries and sold by Powerblanket. We tried it out, had the manufacturer make a couple small tweaks, and have been happy ever since.

The Betterbee Bucket Blanket is a heater that uses a patented 120W heating element to evenly warm and decrystallize honey. It will liquify a pail of crystallized honey in a couple of days or less with slow, steady heat. Made of heavy vinyl, the heater is well insulated to minimize heat loss and wasted power. An internal thermostat limits the blanket temperature to 145°F. In our tests, the honey reached a uniform and steady temperature of 133°F after 24 hours of heating. If lower temperatures are desired, the heater can be unplugged when the desired temperature is obtained.

Note: Even though this heater will not burn your honey, be sure to monitor the honey to make sure you don’t exceed your desired temperature.

Hint: When using the heater, place your bucket on a wooden board or on a piece of foam insulation rather than directly on a concrete floor for faster heating.
