Barrel Blanket Heater

The Betterbee Barrel Blanket Heater for honey is the ultimate heater solution for decrystalizing honey drums without burning and without the expense of building a hot room. The blanket is thermostatically controlled and insulated, and heats the entire barrel wall from the outside. The blanket includes an adjustable digital thermostat which controls the barrel temperature to the user specified setpoint. By heating on the entire surface of your honey barrel's walls, honey is warmed and decrystallized more quickly than with an immersion heater ("potato masher") or with a band heater but at a honey-safe temperature. Unlike most immersion heaters, the blanket only requires 120V power so it can be used anywhere. The blanket is well insulated so little power is wasted.

The blanket measures approximately 36 inches tall by 82 inches long, and is wrapped around the drum with attached nylon strap and buckle. The thermostat sensor should be taped to the barrel so that it reads the metal temperature of the barrel. Do not immerse the sensor in the honey as this could cause malfunction and may burn your honey.

Note: Be sure to monitor your honey temperature during your first few uses so that you can decide what setpoint works best for you. This will help ensure you don't exceed your desired temperature.

Tip: When using the heater place your barrel of honey on a pallet or on a piece of foam insulation rather then directly on a concrete floor for faster heating and more complete decrystallization near the bottom. Insulating the top cover is also recommended, especially in cold weather.
